"The whole tour was informative and fun. We loved our guide, Elaine! It was the perfect end to our vacation! Our guide took us to four different places for tastes of authentic greek food and drink. Besides discussing food, she was also very knowledgeable on the history of Athens. She took us to markets and spice shops and down little alley streets with the most amazing graffiti we've ever seen. Our day concluded at a outdoor cafe with live musicians. The young people there started dancing around the cafe and eventually spilled into the streets dancing and accumulating more people to join them as they went. Activity Description

You get to taste a wide variety of street food that the locals truly enjoy -- from Koulouri (pretzel covered in sesame seeds) to loukoumades (Greek doughnuts), Souvlaki and Kebab, Greek pies and desserts! All of that while exploring Athens and learning the history of the great Greek culinary practices of delectable street food waiting to be discovered. If open, you get to experience the city's most famous food market or wander in the surrounding neighborhood, uncover the city's history, explore hidden alleys and admire the stunning street art and cool neighborhoods. In the lat afternoon, evenings and Sundays when stores and markets are closed, you get the chance to discover the most alternative and vivid secret market in Athens, the market that migrants created in the heart of the city!

The tour kicks off in a truly Greek manner, with koulouri from one of the oldest bakeries. The tour continues as you stroll around the central market and the old commercial center in Athens where you will try the best Greek pies in one of the oldest and most famous pastry shops or delicious local souvlaki. The tour ends with the afternoon Greek coffee ritual and -last but not least- loukoumades with honey and cinnamon, a treat to those with a sweet tooth.
