WHY WE LOVE IT

This Greek food tasting experiences takes you beyond the 'beaten-path' of ouzo, retsina, mousaka and souvlaki! It is also a great opportunity to walk around picturesque Plaka neighborhood with a local.

Activity Description

Get ready to discover the origins of Greek spirits and traditional products and observe the methods by which they are made as you are accompanied by your personal local guide and food connoisseur. This is a rare and one-of-a-kind culinary experience that takes place in a contemporary deli shop with a vast assortment of the finest products across Greece. You’ll be able to procure your very own gastronomy map of Greece and with that you will visualise each region’s produce, a great tool for your workshop and an alternative souvenir to carry home with you!

Your workshop will begin with the northern part of Greece where you will explore the culinary treasures of Macedonia and Thrace. The highlights are the fiery tsipouro from Veria, kasseri cheese from Xanthi, and the round green olives from Chalkidiki. A little further down south on your map, you will find central Greece and will taste their specialties such as the smoked Metsovone cheese and the Konservolia olive variety.

Futher south on the map, the Peloponnese is home to numerous famous Greek products. It is also one of the best wine regions in Greece. You’ll taste cured sardines from Messinia, feta cheese from Tripoli, sygklino from Mani and the world-famous Kalamata olives. Wash down your gastronomic experience with 2 different indigenous wine varieties from the area.

The islands will be your next culinary destination, starting with the islands of Cyclades. You will indulge in the intense, mineral taste of Assyrtiko wine from Santorini while you pair it with the distinctive cheeses of Naxos island, gruyere and arseniko.

This journey of flavours will continue on the North Eastern Aegean on your map. You’ll be able to taste the world-famous ouzo and ladotiri of Lesvos as well as the Mastic Liqueur of Chios. The grand finale of this culinary adventure is the world-famous Cretan olive oil which will be drizzled upon a barley rusk and paired with apaki which is a smoked cold cut favored by Cretans.

This is not just a workshop for foodies but a Greek culinary experience for the senses and one that should be enjoyed with friends, old and new!
