Activity Description

This tour will take you back to the historical past of Rethymnon when it was a thriving Venetian community in the Renaissance Times. Your guide will walk you through the best neighbourhoods in Rethymnon, showing you the most significant and monumental buildings, pictures, as well as pointing out the detailed architecture the city is known for.

During your historical walking tour, your guide will lead you among narrow streets to gourmet shops, each with their own valuable history. At these shops, you will have the opportunity to taste Crete's regional products, such as artisanal cheeses, olive oils and nuts. You will also be offered drinks such as tsikoudia, rakomelo and local wine.

At the end of your history and food tour, you will sit down for tapas at a traditional Cretan meze restaurant. Meze or 'mezze' (aka Greek tapas!) are a significant part of Greek culture. Each mezes you taste will be made with local and quality ingredients, highlighting the geographical and cultural influence of Crete in each dish.

Pace: This tour is not recommended for those with major walking disabilities or using a wheelchair.

Cancellation at least 5 days prior to scheduled program: 70% refund. Cancellation 2-4 days prior to booking date: 50% refund. Cancellation 48 hours prior to booking/no show: No refund.
