Activity Description
During this alternative workshop in Athens you will learn how to crochet the "evil eye", a traditional greek talisman believed to protect a house and its inhabitants from bad luck!
Your warm local host will show you everything you need to make this beautiful and meaningful souvenir to take with you back home, a gift for yourself or to your loved ones.
Your host will guide you step-by-step by showing you how to hold your hook and yarn, the most basic stitches, how to work in the round and how to change colours. Most importantly, you will learn what is behind the evil eye tradition in Greek culture; what it is, what it protects us from, what the Greek orthodox church thinks about it and how to get rid of the evil eye!
The experience is held in a beautiful renovated old house, built in 1930's and set in an original Athenian neighbourhood, conveniently located near the city centre and a central metro station.

Note: No experience in crochet required; the workshop is suitable for beginners and level can be adjusted to participants. It is highly recommended to bring your reading glasses
Young Travelers: Children are welcome! Those above the age of 8 can participate to the workshop and stitch their own evil eye.
